A DETAILED STUDY OF SWINE FLU

WHAT IS SWINE FLU?
Swine influenza (also called swine flu, hog flu, and pig flu) is an infection of a host animal.

HOW IS IT CAUSED?
• People with regular exposure to pigs are at increased risk of swine flu infection.
• Usually swine flu does not affect humans, It is due to a new Influenza A virus subtype H1N1, which passes with apparent ease from human to human.

SYMPTOMS
• fever, which is usually high, but unlike seasonal flu, is sometimes absent
• cough
• runny nose or stuffy nose
• sore throat
• body aches
• headache
• chills
• fatigue or tiredness, which can be extreme
• diarrhea and vomiting, sometimes, but more commonly seen than with seasonal flu
Signs of a more serious swine flu infection might include pneumonia and respiratory failure.
PREVENTIVE MEASURES TO BE TAKEN

• Keep your hands away from your face and mouth especially after coughing
and sneezing.
• Wash your hands frequently with water and soap..
• Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.(with eucalyptus oil)
• Use face masks.
• Tulasi is best medicine have it early morning.

TREATMENT
1. A respiratory sample collected within the first five days of illness will be collected.
2. The sample is sent to the CDC for laboratory analysis and confirmation.
At this time the CDC is recommending the use of oseltamivir (Tamiflu) or zanamivir (Relenza) for treatment and/or prevention of Swine flu.
PEOPLE AFFECTED BY SINE FLU
The spread of the H1N1 virus just does not seem to subside in India as a shocking 2 deaths were recorded in Delhi on Thursday morning. Samrat Pandaya, a 31-year-old and another 38-year-old woman expired at the RML Hospital.
The woman had just returned from Singapore and was admitted on Wednesday at the hospital on complaints of high fever, cough and breathing problems. A total of 32 have died of the swine flu in India.
Although no deaths were reported on the previous day, the total tally of those affected by swine flu in India rose to 2,242. 48 cases were reported in Mumbai while Pune, still the most severely hit by the virus recorded 36 fresh cases on Wednesday. 30 affected patients were admitted in Chennai hospitals while 25 were reported in the capital Delhi.
The government has begun operations to contain the virus as it is now confirmed that the H1N1 affected percentages vary from day to day. On Wednesday more than twice the number of swine flu victims were recorded compared to just 99 on Tuesday. Bangalore reported 17 fresh cases, Nagpur recorded 13, Coimbatore 9, and Dhule 6. 3 cases were reported each from Aurangabad, Nashik, Gurgaon, Rajkot and Latur. Surat, Rtnagiri, Nanded and Beed recorded 2 cases each while Ahmedabad, Diburgarh, Ahmednagar, Buldan, Daman, Mangalore, Jaamnagar, Vadodara recorded 1 each.
According to the heath ministry, out of the 11, 274 patients tested for H1N1, 758 have been discharged from hospitals and have fully recovered.
